The month of January is half over and although most days have been sunny, the grey skies and cold weather often make the short days seem so long. A restorative cup of afternoon tea is a lovely thing to have to add a little warmth to a cold afternoon. One of my favourite gifts was opened on Christmas Eve.
Our daughter decided it was time I had a small teapot to use for the specialty teas she had chosen for me.
I have visited some lovely blogs and notice that when they take pictures of tea time, they have lovely scones or baking to compliment their tea time photos but as you might guess there is little left in the larder, so I sliced a small Panettone just for the photo. Like so many of you, I've looked forward to watching Season Five of Downton Abbey. Last Sunday I was all set to watch episode two when the phone rang. Luckily I already knew that on Friday afternoons, the latest episode is replayed. So this afternoon I will have a cup of tea as I visit Downton Abbey on my tv. I should have waited until the tea was steeped before pouring the tea and taking the picture. I should know better as I do have experience as a tea waitress at The Empress Hotel. It's time for tea and a trip back in time.
Til next time then...Sunshine Always! Sheila

Oh your new little green tea pot is lovely Sheila.
ReplyDeleteThe teas look very interesting - Pino Colada and Chocolate Mint are new flavours to me - they sound so refreshing.
I buy a good Panettone to have over the Christmas period as special toast for breakfast - it's so delicious!

I received a gift of Downton tea at Christmas too Sheila, I adore panettone so much lighter than a traditional fruit cake, I'm sure that you enjoyed this week's episode, sadly I'll have to wait until September for series 6 before visiting Downton once again.
ReplyDeletebon weekend

Your new teapot is lovely. What a nice gift. I can't believe you worked in the tea room at the Empress! What an experience that must have been!
ReplyDeleteI love your steeping teapot and the teacup is so pretty. I also enjoy flavoured teas. Wishing I could get Downton Abbey on our TV. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty tea and a lovely time to enjoy it while watching Downton Abbey. I had thought I would not watch this season, but I was hooked again on the first episode of the season. Oh well. There are worse things I could be hooked on.
ReplyDeleteHaving a pretty tea pot and a selection of teas is a real pleasure. I remember so clearly my afternoon tea at the Empress although it was a long time ago. Enjoy Downton Abbey; it's a great show, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteTea and Downton Abbey go well together. You have some interesting teas there. What a thoughtful gift.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little pot - and a tasty looking slice or two of panettone! That's one of my favourite Christmas time treats!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a hot drink on a cold winter day to lift the spirits. Thanks for your comment. My husband is better and we are adjusting.
