Out and About in Rome

Today I'm thinking back to my trip to Italy last summer.
I thought I'd share some photos of our two weeks in Rome...
Here are a few photos for your enjoyment on this last Sunday in January...

I'm taking a short break from blogging.
It's now or never - my old photos in sticky albums are being pried out and moved to PVC free albums.  It's a massive job but this time I'm determined and the time is right...Enjoy your week wherever you are!

Through My Windows...

What did the settlers of the prairie do on days like this - when the wind is whistling and the cold is so cold that it makes one want to stay inside with a cozy book and a cup of tea?  I suppose they would have been baking bread, stirring soup and knitting warm socks.  Cooking and eating are our hobbies these days. We made clam chowder in the crockpot and baked cornmeal muffins to go along with the soup for dinner last night but today my scale added a pound and a half to my after the holidays weight...
I'd better not dust off the bread maker and start baking as I had thought I might this morning .  The few pictures that were taken through my windows this frosty week were lacking in colour so I enhanced them and would like to share them with you now.  Keep warm wherever you are!

Quilting Gifts

One of my plans for the year includes joining the local Quilting For Humanity group that meets once a month (but for 4 days in a row).  Yesterday I started a new easy quilt just to get into the swing of things again and though I started out following a pattern, I've now adapted it and think the design will work much better with the fabrics in my stash.  I hope to get going on it soon and having a project to do is always fun.  It's the finishing that gets tricky and I know I'm not alone in saying that.  I thought now that all the gifts have been opened, I'd share a few of the small fabric gifts I made for my sisters, friends and nieces.
Reversible aprons for my nieces...

Table center pieces for my sisters...

I have more quilted gifts to share with you but the photos can't be located.  I haven't had the best of luck blogging this week, having signed into Mary's Little Red House last week with a spelling error which directed bloggers to a  bad link.  Hopefully I'll never make that mistake again.  Today when I checked my blog there are the words "Reply" and "Delete" under each comment.  I didn't do anything to my blog and wonder how these words appeared.  I've never read a comment I would want to delete so please don't be put off by those options.  Maybe they just show up on my version of my blog.  In any case, I want you to know I appreciate all your kind comments!  Winter is here at last it seems with some snow and much colder weather.  Hope the sun is shining wherever you are... I'm going to join the others at Mary's Mosaic Monday tonight.  As always she has posted beautiful mosaics there...

Fantastic Day!

Morning Sunrise
Today was a special day because the temperature here was +8 and the light in both the morning and evening was wonderful! This winter has been unusual... with so many warm days and very little snow.  It's actually unbelievable that there are wildfire warnings for much of Alberta at this time of year.  Hope the sun shone for you today!
Evening Sunset
Have a wonderful week!
For the first time I'm linking to Sunlit Sunday here
I'm linking to Mary's Mosaic Monday again this week. Take a peek here...
