Just the Opposite

Most days in the month of January I enjoy the longer days and love to look through our windows to our big back yard.   Let's just say that white is not my favourite "colour".  But the good news is that I can see so many lovely colours if I just look through my photos online.  I was having a problem with space it seemed, so I've been working on deleting many of the sunrises and sunsets, and other duplicates that don't need to be in my albums.  It's really a chore but I have been enjoying some of my favourites and will share some with you today.  Have a wonderful day wherever you are and keep smiling no matter what the weather!
Even in winter there is colour in the sky...
Yet I'd love to be flying to Hawaii again today...
 Such beautiful plants - Aloha!

Island Notecards

It was just 5 weeks ago we returned from our winter holiday and the whiteness of our surrounding landscape on the farm just doesn't suit the task at hand.  I have found some photos from our trip which take me back in time and memories.  I'll share them with Vee and her friends at Vee's Note Card party.

I haven't felt much like blogging lately - you may have noticed... Thanks for visiting and here are some virtual flowers to put a smile on your face today.  Sunshine always - Sheila

New Beginnings

As the year begins, I'm thinking of the word hope...it's an optimistic word which calls to mind all the changes we plan to make, all that we intend to accomplish and the personal goals and dreams we have.  "Hope" is my word for the year.  Do you have a special word that will define your year?
The old year ended softly as I almost snoozed through it.   We had a lovely Christmas and appreciated having most of our Alberta family here with us on Christmas Day or on Boxing Day.  Our daughter was home for the whole week and our son visited most days as well because both of them work at different universities which close through the Christmas holidays.
2013 rang in so nicely with warm weather.  It has been such a gift to have two balmy days in a row.  We've taken the opportunity to get outside and it's nice to see the sunshine melting the snow on the deck.  How long will this break last? Not as long as we'd as like -but we sure appreciate it while it's happening.

Best wishes for a year filled with the special times and the people who make your world complete!

Merry Christmas!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas... We just returned from the grocery store and no matter who we talked to, everyone asks about each other's children.  When you live in the country as we do, we see our neighbours often in one of the two grocery stores.  One of my favourite decorations to put out each Christmas is this framed print from another time and another little town.  Imagine our surprise when we saw our children in the front page picture of the Christmas newspaper.   It's twenty five years later but we're still waiting eagerly for them to come home.

Just two more days filled with anticipation...  families will gather to share a wonderful meal. The doorbell will ring and relatives will bustle in as they have so many Christmases before.

Best wishes to you and your family for a day that is  filled with special moments and memories of Christmases past.  Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!
