Quilting

While I'm waiting for winter to become spring, I inevitably turn to Quilting. This year, the local Extendicare facility asked me to make a "Dignity Quilt" that could be used when a resident passes away. Normally, a gurney is rolled out the back doors of the facility but when the quilt is used, an announcement is made to the staff and residents and the farewell occurs in a more dignified manner. Those who wish to say good-bye are able to pay their respects as the resident is taken past the common area and out the front doors of the facility. It was an honour to be asked to make this quilt. I used a panel I'd purchased in Hawaii many years ago and Bali prints for the borders.
